UNLOC to drive the technical program of OFC 2017

11 April, 2016

Faculty and senior researchers from UNLOC  have been asked to serve on some of the technical program subcommittees for next year's largest conference on optical fibre communications.

Every year academic and industry experts from the fibre commuications community convene to the USA  for a week of presentations, exhibitions and discussions that often set the direction, trends and research agenda for the entire field. The Optical Fibre Communications conference is the leading conference in optical communication technologies, rivaled only by its European equivalent,  the European Conference on Optical Communications.

UNLOC presence in both conferences is always significant on the presentation stage as well as in the technical program committees who decide on the objectives, themes and content of these events. Three members of UNLOC have already been invited to a number of technical subcommittees for next year's OFC conference. Dr Robert Killey is now a member of the S5 subcommitte on Digital Transmission Systems, Dr Benn Thomsen is in the Digital Electronics Subsystems and Tranceivers committee, while Dr Domanic Lavery is part of the Optical Access Networks and Fixed-mobile Convergence committee.

UNLOC presented 3 invited talks, 6 contributed talks, and 2 posters at OFC 2016 while in 2015 UNLOC investigator, Dr Seb Savory who recently moved to Cambridge University served as one of OFC's General Chairs. You can now browse through the technical papers and watch many of the recorded sessions from this year's conference.
