UNLOC Investigator Meets Politicians to Discuss Future of Broadband

UNLOC associate co-investigator Professor Andrew Ellis met recently with politicians and industry representatives to discuss the future of broadband in the UK.

Houses of ParliamentThe dinner discussion, hosted by the Industry and Parliament Trust on 11th June, was entitled "Connecting Communities: Meeting Britain's Broadband Needs". Discussion topics included the balance between the government's aim to move more services online and the low level of connectivity in some communities, the move towards super high-speed broadband, and how to ensure the efficient use of infrastructure and new technologies in meeting the government's ambitions.

The dinner was chaired by Baroness Fookes DBE, and speakers included Helen Goodman MP (Shadow Minister for Culture, Media and Sport), and Stephen Harris (Chief of Staff, EE), and was part of a series of peer-to-peer discussions bringing together industry representatives and parliamentarians to discuss key policy areas.
