FIBRE SYSTEMS featuring UNLOC's research

The latest issue of Fibre Systems features UCL Optical Networks Group and its partners in the quest to explore the limits of fibre transmission in the nonlinear regime. The article, entitled Harnessing the nonlinear communicaton regime, describes the current heated scientific debate on the definition of the "Nonlinear Shannon limit" and its implication for optical fibre transmission. Over the last 6 years, UNLOC researchers have made significant contribution in this direction, concluding that communication is possible beyond the current nonlinear limits. This opens new exciting perspectives for the future of optical fibre communication.
